LEADERSHIP

As editor-in-chief and sports director of St. Joe's award winning broadcast program, I take pride in all that we produce. I constantly have to communicate with our news directors, Emerson Erwin and Zaniah Purvis, especially since we are in different class periods. As we learn in the journalism business, communication is KEY.

As a major leader in our program, I teach the underclassmen how to do everything, whether it's edit video, anchor, produce packages, or anything else. This year, I've taken a bit of a step back from editing sports and our weekly midweek update: The Midweek "Paws," to let one of our young, new editors, Jonah Murphy, edit sports, and up and coming journalist, Jason Buckley, take the lead with The Midweek "Paws." Under my leadership, the sports journalism class has taken on the task of producing a Monday morning preview of the week in sports: "What's Bruin at the Joe."

“Adriana Terrazas is a great high school sports journalist who has taken the lead this year overseeing all of St. Joseph Catholic School’s sports productions – including the weekly sportscast portion of the student newscast. She also has contributed to our live-stream and live radio broadcasts of Bruin football. Adriana was instrumental in our new Monday morning sports preview show, ‘What’s Bruin.’  She also has taken a lead role in our new live monthly coaches show, ‘Bruin Backcourt,’ which students produce and host live from Sal & Mookie’s Madison restaurant. Our sports coverage has consistently improved this year thanks to her leadership in my new Sports Broadcasting class.”

Terry R. Cassreino, St. Joseph Catholic School journalism teacher

Leading the class is something that I deeply enjoy doing; it brings me joy to see other students love journalism just like I do.
